About Our Products
The idea to design functional artworks from paua shell was born out of the desire to combine kiwi ingenuity with our nation’s most amazing natural treasure of the sea.
Each design piece has been handmade in New Zealand using top-quality materials and the best quality paua shell.
The paua shell has become a New Zealand icon, its numerous natural uses making it a small part of everyone’s home. Paua2thePeople take the whole idea one step further — handcrafting the shells to their full potential while retaining the free forms and lines.
The concept of functional art is not a new one, but up until now no one has endeavoured to use what is in effect a natural dish in so many different ways. The shell has so many fantastic dimensions that designing new uses has become a passion.
About Our Company
Paua2thePeople is owned and operated by Kenney-Jean Sidwell and her whānau (family). Born and breed in Wellington, she lives and works on the Miramar Peninsular at the southernmost point of the North Island. The workshop is located in Strathmore, while the small gallery is located at Shelly Bay in an old military base.
Kenney-Jean is a descendant of the Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Toa, and Te Ati Awa tribal groups.
